Winners of Nature Poetry Competition Announced
Schoolchildren across the diocese put pen to paper this term in a Nature Poetry Competition, and we’re delighted to be able to reveal the results.
The competition formed part of the Laudato Si’ Centre and Diocese of Salford‘s inaugural Environmental Mission Week, which took place in October.
From a wealth of impressive entries, four youngsters were selected as winners, and are each set to be awarded with a £25 National Book Token.
The winners of the Nature Poetry Competition are:
- Liana – from St Joseph’s Primary School for ‘Pointless Questions’
- Alfie – from St Cecilia’s RC High School for ‘Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow’
- Tristan – from St John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School for ‘The World The Beautiful World’
- Natalia – from Mount St Joseph High School for ‘Nature Poem’
Dr Emma Gardner, Head of Environment for the Diocese of Salford and the Laudato Si’ Centre, said: “We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition. There were lots of wonderful poems, so it was really tough judging the competition. As there were so many wonderful poems, we are planning a publication of selected poems to share across the diocese.”
